This view of the city of Knysna (pronounced "nize-na"), RSA, is taken from a balcony at the home of friends John and Pat Nurse. Jeff met the Nurses when they all lived in Botswana fourteen years ago; they visited us in the U.S. in June 2002, and we visited their home in February 2003. Knysna is located on the Indian Ocean between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. John and Pat's home, as with many of the homes along the coast, is built on a hill, affording a wonderful view of the town and ocean. We planned to stay four nights and depart on May 5 for Cape Town, but John was taken ill early in the morning of May 5, ending up in the intensive care unit of the private hospital in George, a city about 60k west of Knysna. We did not want to leave until his condition improved, so we did not depart for Cape Town until shortly after noon on Monday, May 8.
