Saturday, May 27 and Sunday, May 28: We departed Nata and retraced the route back to Maun, arriving at about 1 p.m. We found accomodation in a nice room with a shady balcony and outdoor furniture at the Sedia Hotel, then set out to find one of Jeff's former students from Nata, Barwadietsho Samati, who now lives in Maun. After a couple of phone calls we located her brother, who was able to show us both her house and her workplace. We were told by a neighbor that Barwati would be at home after 6 p.m., so we returned to the room balcony to relax until then. When we went back, she and Jeff had a pleasant reunion; talked about her family, other former students, and her life since junior secondary school.

Monday, May 29: The first errand of the day was a 9 a.m. appointment at a doctor's office for basic physicals required for our residence and employment permits. The second was picking up a computer for Jeff; it had been ordered during our brief stop in the office on May 19, and it was more efficient for us to get it from the supplier in Maun than to wait two or three more weeks for delivery. The last task was to purchase grocery items that we knew we could not find in Shakawe. Products such as yogurt, cheese, ham, bacon, and certain types of vegetables generally aren't sold in the small town grocery stores, including the two in Shakawe. If we planned carefully we could buy large enough quantities in Maun to last four or five weeks. Our errands were completed and we were on the road by 1 p.m., and reached Shakawe at about 5 p.m.
